MW:M Cinema 2022
In 2022, our MW:M Cinema programming expands for the first time into the space where the music business and the film and media sector meet. It’s a new focus of the conference at a time when more and more music companies and creators are excited about this vital, vibrant area – and as media, music and technology continue to converge, there promises to be plenty of opportunity in the coming years.
MW:M Cinema will highlight those opportunities, and the possibilities for collaboration, will present new technologies, and will share practical experiences for partnership between film and music creators. Check out our speakers here.
And of course, there will be great films to watch! MW:M Cinema’s film programme will feature San Remo and Raw.Chicks.Berlin at the Kulturbrauerei on 09th November and Saul Williams’ and Anisia Uzeyman’s Afrofuturist sci-fi punk musical Neptune Frost at the Colosseum on 10th November. The films San Remo and Raw Chicks.Berlin were selected in cooperation with the Berlin music film festival Soundwatch.

All film fans are welcome to the film festival – both trade visitors and the public. MW:M Cinema tickets can also be purchased individually – and for MW:M22 conference attendees, access to MW:M Cinema is included in the conference ticket (however, prior registration is required as places are limited). For those who want to see even more exciting films, we recommend a visit to the sixth edition of the music film festival Soundwatch, which begins on 8th November. Our pick is Subharchord – A Future That Never Happened, which will be shown at the Zeiss Planetarium on 11th November.

Soundwatch presents a mix of 15 to 20 current and international music documentaries, music-driven narrative films, media art, and other forms of encounter between music and moving image. Soundwatch also organises monthly screenings, with Berlin previews of music films – and facilitates other projects exploring interfaces between film and music.
