ZLATOMIRA / Studio THE UNKNOWN
ZLATOMIRA is a Bulgaria-born multidisciplinary artist, performer and DJ based in Berlin. Her practice moves fluidly between painting, performance, acting, music and nightlife, shaped by a life of reinvention and an instinct to work across disciplines rather than within a single medium.

She began painting as a child, but initially followed a very different path, earning a Master’s degree in Economics and building a successful corporate career. In 2016, a serious car accident and a year of recovery became a turning point. During this period, she began an acting course, returning to creative practice not only through painting but also through performance and acting.
Today, these practices exist alongside and within one another. Painting gives form to her visual language; acting and performance bring the body, presence and character into the work; DJing turns her sensitivity to rhythm and atmosphere into a collective experience; and her years working as a bouncer and door selector have given her an unusually direct understanding of people, behaviour and the energy of a room.

With more than 15 years immersed in electronic music culture and over 100 DJ sets across Berlin in the past year, ZLATOMIRA has performed everywhere from underground clubs and galleries to private member spaces, cultural events and large-scale public celebrations, including leading the 2026 Sofia Pride parade with an estimated crowd of 20,000 people.

Rather than treating these as separate careers, she sees them as different expressions of the same practice: observing people, inhabiting spaces, working with presence, and creating encounters between body, image, sound and audience.

Who Curates the Night?

Berlin’s nightlife is often seen as open and self-regulating, but behind every space are decisions about who gets booked, who enters and who is centred. This panel brings together the figures who are shaping the city’s club culture—DJs, bookers, door staff, and artist care—who are shifting those dynamics from within. It explores nightlife as cultural power and asks who defines safety, access and visibility, and how is inclusion built into structures and not just used as language?
