The Sound Legacy Project II: Creating Across Generations

Every sound carries a lineage. Across Berlin and beyond, musicians are building on traditions passed down through families, scenes and diaspora communities, while creating work that speaks to their own zeitgeist.
This session explores how sound, knowledge and values travel between generations. How do artists honour where their music comes from while finding their own voice? What role do collectives, open stages and mentors play in that exchange? And what do today’s artists want to pass on to the next generation?
Drawing on personal creative journeys, the conversation reflects on heritage, community and what it takes to build a musical legacy that keeps growing.

Booking agents in electronic music act as the key link between artists and live performance opportunities. They secure gigs by negotiating contracts, coordinating logistics like travel and technical needs and maintaining strong relationships with promoters, venues, and managers. Beyond booking, agents help build artists’ careers by strategically planning tours and promoting them to the right audiences. Their work allows artists to focus on performing while agents handle the complex organisational and business side of live shows. Learn how booking agents work, what their tasks include, when an artist should apply to join an agency, and what benefits can be gained from this partnership.
