Sounding the System

Creating niche music can present its own rewards and setbacks. Many artists continue to face challenges when performing in venues where assigned technical teams are unfamiliar with the specific sonic and cultural nuances of their music. This roundtable explores the importance of technical collaboration, the role of external engineers, and how venues can better support artists whose sound falls outside familiar production norms.

Smells Like Ageism

The music industry talks a lot about diversity, but rarely about age. Based on a new industry-wide survey, this session explores how age shapes visibility, bookings, opportunities and belonging across club culture, live music and the wider music ecosystem. Bringing together data, industry perspectives and lived experiences, it asks a simple question: How age-diverse is music culture really and what might we be missing by not talking about it?
