MW:M Research

Most Wanted: Music Research will take place on November 13, 2025 at Frannzclub Berlin and was established last year as a new conference track for encounters between artists, practitioners and researchers. It features both longstanding research-industry collaborations between the Berlin Music Commission and the GMM (Gesellschaft für Musikwirtschafts- und Musikkulturforschung), adding an international speaker line-up curated from a call for participation targeted towards the areas of music business, music culture, music tech, and music education.

Following the 2025 conference theme, the GMM will start the day with the “AI & Music Transformations Applied Knowledge Lab”, where guests can co-create their visions with a dedicated AI tool called “Future Canvas”. The results of that process will be presented in the afternoon together with the winners of this year’s Best Paper Award, an award for the best thesis and research projects also hosted by GMM.

After a full day of research talks, we will finish off the programme with a reception including university partners such as Technical University Berlin and Paderborn’s Popular Music Studies alumni to connect students with professionals and hopefully spark many new connections across academia and industry.
