About Most Wanted: Music & MW:M Live
Most Wanted: Music (MW:M) is the leading music business conference in Berlin, organized by the Berlin Music Commission on behalf of the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. Its mission is to actively shape the future of the music and creative industries through knowledge exchange, networking, innovation, and new business models.
MW:M Live is the international showcase festival of MW:M, providing a platform for emerging local and international artists to perform in front of industry professionals, decision-makers, and audiences. Together, both formats form one of the key industry events within the European music ecosystem.
Your Tasks
- Overall responsibility for the strategic, organizational, and operational delivery of Most Wanted: Music Convention and MW:M Live Festival.
- Lead and manage the entire project structure, including all sub-projects and departments
- Develop, implement, and continuously update a comprehensive project and timeline plan
- Overall responsibility for budget planning, monitoring, and controlling (including personnel planning)
- Financial administration including public procurement procedures, invoice verification, payment approvals, and preparation of reports and proof of use of funds for funding bodies
- Support and coordination of funding applications as well as communication with public funding institutions
- Lead and coordinate the project team, including onboarding and management of freelancers and external service providers
- Regular reporting and strategic alignment with executive management and the board
- Interface management across program, production, marketing, partnerships, and other departments
- Acquisition and management of national and international partners (e.g. funding institutions, sponsors, export offices and other programme partners)
- Representation of the project at relevant industry events and towards key stakeholders
- Ensure smooth execution of the event, including overall on-site coordination
- Conduct evaluations, reporting, and strategic development following the event
Your Profile
- Several years of experience (min. 3 years) in project and event management in a leadership role
- Proven experience managing complex event formats (ideally conference + festival)
- Strong knowledge of the music and creative industries and an established professional network, ideally in Berlin
- Experience working with public funding structures and administrative requirements (e.g. procurement, reporting)
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills
- High level of resilience, organizational skills, and flexibility, especially during intensive project phases
- Strategic mindset and ability to manage complex processes
- Fluent German (min. B2/C1) and English (min. C1), both written and spoken

Framework
- Workload: approx. 700 hours in 2026 (with option to extend for 2027 at a similar scale)
- Project duration: expected April 2026 – March 2028
- Peak periods: especially August to December
- Compensation: based on qualifications (freelance basis)
- Maximum contract value:
- €35,000 net in year one
- €38,500 net in year two
Note: This contract concerns a publicly funded project with limited financial resources. The contracting authority reserves the right to cancel the tender if the most economically advantageous bid exceeds the available budget.
