Ratte Rosa paints a world of strong contrasts- from delicate piano melodies and dark basslines to sorrowful lyrics and furious instrumentals, rats and lace. Through her autobiographical lyrics and cinematic sounds, the artist recounts her life as a woman in a patriarchal society. Without contrived phrases, without flowery language, and without sugarcoating the reality of her life. Tangled up in her own identity with the questions “who am I, really?” and “how much of this is a product of socialization?”, she cuts to the chase with precision and rage and dissects her own self piece by piece, writing about slut-shaming, the male gaze, strong female friendships, abuse of power, and her own invisibility in a world that wasn’t created for her and her sisters.
