Association For Electronic Music

Jay Ahern is Chief Strategy Officer at the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM), the global trade body representing the electronic music industry. He leads AFEM’s strategic work across rights and royalties, metadata, music technology and AI.

His work focuses on creator education, responsible AI and strengthening the systems that support creativity and fair remuneration. He serves on the WIPO for Creators Advisory Board and developed and curated the public TRACK ID programme at Alte Liebe for Reeperbahn Festival 2026, exploring the cultural, commercial and technological infrastructure of electronic music.

Jay’s career spans PIAS Recordings, Domino Records, Beatport and Hard Wax, followed by roles in music technology at Native Instruments, LANDR and Cyanite. In business and strategic roles, he has worked with artists including Four Tet, Arctic Monkeys, Richie Hawtin and Moby.

Jay is also an electronic music producer and recording artist.

Berlin AI Think Tank | Open Community Session

Venue: CIC Berlin, Lohmühlenstraße 65, Berlin.

What does Germany need to put in place now, and what role can Berlin play, to build a competitive, sustainable and fair European AI music market?

The Berlin AI Think Tank brings together representatives from music, research, technology, law, rights management and policy to examine how the European AI and music market needs to function as it develops.

This Open Community Session brings music creators, artists, managers, political and policy participants and the wider music community into the discussion.

Key outcomes from the Think Tank’s working session will be shared, where appropriate, and discussed from the perspective of the wider community, with a focus on transparency, licensing, attribution, fair remuneration and the legal and practical conditions needed for implementation.

The session will be held in English.
