Victor Shepardson is a researcher, technician, and musician. He is completing doctoral research in the Intelligent Instruments Lab at the University of Iceland, having previously studied computer science, computer music, and worked as a machine learning engineer. His current research approaches the lived experience of people with AI via design of, and performance with, new musical instruments.
Victor has worked with artists including Nordic Affect, Jonathan Reus, Stefan Maier, Jenna Sutela, and Arca. His music searches electroacoustic and algorithmic assemblages for weird spaces, unanticipated instants and absurd entanglements. His practice lately involves no-input mixing, bricolage signal processing, found objects, e-textiles and generative MIDI.
