Alexander Regal aka Deaf_iance works and lives in Vienna. He grew up with a hearing disability, nevertheless learned to play cello and piano. In 2018 he was officially issued his disability pass with the designation “deaf”. In 2020 he learned drums self-taught and focused more on rhythms.
In March and April 2024, he took part in a Sub_Bar project for hearing-impaired and deaf people and learned how to use synthesizers without hearing music, but feeling it. Performances at Vienna's Flucc, Innsbruck's PMK, at Angewandte Festival (Vienna) and Most Wanted Music Festival (Berlin) followed. His music is minimalistic and heavily based on rhythms.
