Prof. Dr. Barbara Hornberger, born in 1970, studied cultural studies, aesthetic and applied arts at the University of Hildesheim, Germany, and specialised on popular culture, esp. popular music. She received her PhD with an exploration of the topic ‘New German Wave’ (Neue Deutsche Welle).
Currently, she is professor of musicology at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. Her research focuses on popular culture and music, on popular culture history and on popular music and education.
