Annika Frommholz
Biography
Annika Frommholz is a research assistant and second-year PhD student at the Audio Communication Research Group, at Technische Universität Berlin and works as a Machine Learning Researcher at Sound Innovation Lab. Her interdisciplinary work at the Sound Innovation Lab bridges the fields of computer science, musicology, signal processing, and psychoacoustics.
Her PhD research focuses on leveraging Music Information Retrieval (MIR) and Machine Learning to analyse the semantics of functional / interaction sounds, exploring questions like, "What is the intent behind a mobile phone's 'bing'?" With a background in electrical engineering, information technology, and explainable AI, Annika aims to uncover new insights into the aesthetics and expressive qualities of sound.
