Finally, live music again! Yesterday, MW:M Live took place as the big showcase closing event of Most Wanted: Music 2020 and set a strong signal for the event industry in the middle of the second corona lockdown.

A total of 24 talented acts from all over the world performed in front of invited professional guests and numerous music fans via live stream – 9 of them in strict compliance with all hygiene and distance regulations at Alte Münze Berlin and the remaining 15 joined digitally.

Tina Sikorski (Initiative Musik) and Stephan Hengst (Most Wanted: Music) opened the event with encouraging words: “We are convinced that under these difficult conditions it is more important than ever for the entire music and creative industry to offer extraordinary talents a professional platform like MW:M Live so that they can continue to present themselves to a professional audience,” Hengst said.

One of the highlights on-site in Berlin were Coucou with their melancholically relaxed sound between pop, jazz and folk, as well as Linda Bender alias LIN, who brought lively electro-pop songs to the stage using only loop machines. TUYS from Luxembourg dived into dreamy Psych-Pop with us, and the jazz hip-hop artists of Super Duty Tough Work succeeded in a relaxed performance, while Monako, who emigrated from Hamburg to Montreal, invited the audience to dream with decelerated funk-pop.

Connected from Glasgow, the Scottish singer/songwriter Cara Rose gave a powerfully reduced performance between pop and R&B, accompanied by acoustic guitar and electric piano. Also in a virtual DIY performance, the artist Breezy reported her experience of living as a queer “mulatto” in times of increased racist and gender-specific violence in melancholic hip-hop songs. And rap newcomer MAZ prepared an impressively fervent and furious hip-hop performance in advance. Despite the lack of an audience in Berlin, the hand-picked acts created such a sensational mood on the current music scene. After the concerts, the artists patiently answered the questions of their fans in a live chat.

Did you miss MW:M Live? You can also watch all performances later again on YouTube.

Keeping everyone safe at Most Wanted: Music 2020

Organising Most Music: Wanted 2020 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic has not been without its challenges, but rest assured that the health of everyone taking part is our highest priority. We’re pulling out all the stops to make sure that the event adheres to all distance and hygiene regulations. Each area of the main conference and all associated venues will have individually-tailored safety plans and special hygiene procedures for our staff on-event and our on-site speakers.

We will ensure the safety of our speakers and team in a number of ways. Of course, masks will be compulsory at all events, and each event space will allow for social distancing.

G2K and CAS

We are delighted to have G2K and CAS on board for MW:M20, and we are confident that they can help us make the conference as safe as possible.

The technology provided by G2K enabled 20,000 fans to attend the UEFA Supercup match between FC Bayern Munich and FC Sevilla in Budapest back in September 2020 and we are certain that their technology will keep us safe at MW:W20.

Live Fever Scanning

Using infrared cameras, G2K’s AI-based software can detect signs of infection and interrupt infection chains at an early stage. These measurements are contactless and work in real-time, factoring in sunlight, scarves, hats, and other elements that might lead to an elevated temperature.

What do our speakers and staff have to do? Nothing – the cameras run alongside the entrance and automatically live fever scan, so you won’t even notice.

Of course, no data is stored, and the measurement is taken according to the rules of the GDPR. G2K will not be reporting anyone who is found to be violating Covid-19 restrictions but is there solely to protect our speakers and employees. No one with an elevated temperature will be admitted to MW:W20.

Cleaning Measures with CAS

CAS is an innovative technology company. At the moment, they have solutions for pandemic and crisis management, offering safe and proven products for the disinfection of large areas.

At MW:W20, we will use their 3D ultrasonic cold fogging. This dermatologically-tested chemical process uses ultrasonic membranes to generate cold mist. Room air and surfaces are cleaned of harmful germs over a wide area within a very short time. The mist also reaches areas that are usually difficult to access (ceilings, handrails, seats, etc.) This technology eliminates more than 99% of all viruses and bacteria with the help of biocides, which are less harmful to the environment than conventional disinfection products (e.g. hydrogen peroxide) but are much more effective and longer-lasting.

The protection of our speakers and employees is paramount at MW:M, and we are dedicated to using the most effective ways of ensuring the safety of everyone.

Regarding the safety precautions of the conference, project director Stephan Hengst says:

“During the livestream production of Most Wanted: Music 2020, we are taking all necessary measures to prevent infection in order to ensure the greatest possible safety for everyone on-site at Alte Münze Berlin. This includes strict compliance with all applicable safety and hygiene regulations, including social distancing, compulsory use of masks throughout the building, and the registration of personal data at the entrance to the event.”

What can we expect from the new virtual conference format?

Since Most Wanted: Music 2020 is taking place virtually, you – our participants – will not have to worry about those procedures. You can make yourself comfortable at home or from your desk and enjoy the conference via our conference platform or manifold live streams. This means you won’t miss out. Our virtual tickets for this year’s conference enable you to play an active role with plenty of opportunities to participate –  interactive networking, one-to-one matchmaking, virtual partner and business meetings, direct questions to speakers – and of course, you can enjoy the conference from anywhere in the world!

Many talks and sessions will be broadcast on the MW:M YouTube channel. There will also be a high degree of interactivity between attendees and partners, and numerous opportunities to get in touch with our high-profile speakers and experts. Make sure you grab your virtual ticket here!

There are a lot of exciting music and tech conferences out there – it can often be difficult trying to decide which ones to give your time to.

We have put together 10 reasons why we think you should prioritise attending the 7th edition of Most Wanted: Music in spite of (or indeed, because of) the pandemic:

1. LEARN FROM THE BEST

Immerse yourself in a full day of inspiring keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, and networking events. Hear from the leading experts, academics and artists about the latest trends and developments in music.

At MW:M20, our topics include diversity, sustainability and the future of music in these uncertain times. Our speakers range from international performers and activists such as Madame Gandhi, to legendary festival curator Marek Lieberberg and AI expert and professor Maya Ackerman.

We have experts in the fields of music publishing, social video and inclusivity, as well as innovative newcomers, passionate about creativity and progress.

2. OPEN YOUR ORBIT OF IDEAS

What differentiates MW:M the most from other music conventions? This conference focuses not only on business and art, but also on technologies, their social impacts and what this means for all of our work.

MW:M is Berlin’s visionary music business conference, calling for the sustainable, purposeful progress needed in the post-coronavirus industry.

Streaming live from the heart of Europe’s most radically creative city, expect interactive talks and cutting-edge online workshops augmented with experimental networking formats.

3. DISCOVER OUR DYNAMIC PROGRAMME

Explore the ways in which new technologies influence music creation and how streaming enables new stages and marketing methods for artists. Understand the ways in which music can be a catalyst for social change and how artists can use their social media channels as a vehicle for it.

Our diverse programme will keep you on your toes – listen to exciting new music while on the other day taking part in a discussion about European copyright law. The variety packed into the conference means there is never a dull moment at MW:M.

4. AFFORDABLE TICKET PRICES

MW:M online tickets are available for the regular price of €20. Access to all keynotes, panel discussions, workshops, live performances and the AI-based delegates database is included in the price. Our audience mainly consists of self-employed artists and freelancers – the people who build the music business.

We are aware that times are particularly hard for them amidst the pandemic, so that’s why we’re running a special campaign for artists, freelancers, students, interns and members of the Berlin Music Commission with a 50% discount on our regular ticket price.

This is the BMC’s response to the difficult economic situation in which many people in the music and creative industries currently find themselves.

5. ENGAGE WITH MUSIC INDUSTRY VISIONARIES WORLDWIDE

MW:M is not a passive conference – the MW:M online ticket gives you the opportunity to actively engage with the speakers and panel guests. All ticket holders will get the chance to address their questions directly to the speakers and artists at the Q&A sessions.

6. FANTASTIC NETWORKING – EVEN FROM YOUR SOFA

The online ticket provides access to the AI-based MW:M delegates database, which includes many opportunities to participate in the conference and network with all speakers, artists and experts.

Via the app, you can discover who is attending the conference digitally, request a one-on-one meeting, or arrange virtual partner and business meetings.

The MW:M exhibition area showcases the latest products and services and offers an unparalleled opportunity to network with the conference sponsors and exhibitors.

It couldn’t be easier to visit the booths online via the MW:M conference app and platform, watch the exhibitors’ online videos, and chat with the MW:M team.

7. #TOGETHERNESS

Now more than ever there is a need for the industry to come together in order to face the challenges surrounding the pandemic. At MW:M20, the greatest innovators in music will be brainstorming new ways to keep artists and events afloat under our motto of #TOGETHERNESS. Be part of the conversation that will move the industry forward in these difficult times.

8. REVEL IN LIVE MUSIC ONCE MORE

We are thrilled to present 24 international artists at MW:M Live 2020. Each artist will perform live at Berlin’s historic Alte Münze to our virtual audience live streamed via our YouTube channel.

You do not want to miss this rare opportunity to experience some live music in 2020 – played by some of the most exciting acts of the moment at that.

9. SEE THE FUTURE OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY

We are living in unprecedented times, but the future sustainability of the music industry relies on today’s innovation.

Our conference focuses both on the adaptations the industry must undergo in order to survive the pandemic, as well as the changes it must make to tackle the climate crisis, and ensure that we as an industry play our part in reversing the effects of climate change.

With sessions featuring Music Declares Emergency Germany and talks about Zero Waste and Carbon Neutral Clubs, MW:M is dedicated to realising this change.

10. OUR FASCINATING DELEGATES

We saved the best for last: Reason 10 is YOU! Without people such as yourself, we could never manage to make this conference happen in the first place – you are equally as important as any speaker, artist or expert on our programme.

THANK YOU for your support and for caring about the future of the music industry.

With our showcase event MW:M Live we’re presenting you the best new live acts once more! We are so excited to showcase new talent from all over the world. MW:M Live will be the virtual grand finale of the Most Wanted: Music conference on Thursday, November 5th, taking place from 4pm-10pm.

This year, due to the rapid developments concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and the decisions of the German government on October 28th, MW:M Live will be streamed live on the MW:M virtual conference plattform and on the MW:M YouTube channel for music fans online.

Get your online-ticket now!

A total of 24 bands and solo artists will present themselves to an online audience of top-tier experts on the evening of November 5th – including the psych-pop-band TUYS from Luxembourg and jazz singer/songwriter Kid Be Kid from Germany. A PLATFORM FOR LIVE PERFORMANCES AND NETWORKING

The Corona crisis is currently making it difficult for even the most talented bands and young artists to gain a foothold in the music business.

Many artists have not only been denied the opportunity to experience live music in front of an audience, but also the chance to showcase themselves to the music industry or fans at festivals or on tour.

It is therefore of deep importance to the organisers of MW:M Live that bands and solo artists from all over the world are offered a platform.

MEET OUR MW:M LIVE ARTISTS

Eleven of the artists and bands will perform directly live from the Alte Münze, while 13 other acts will join digitally from all over the world. Q&A sessions, private video meetings and live chats will connect the international music industry audience with the artists – via our virtual event platform.

The COVID-19 pandemic poses unprecedented challenges for our industry. The past weeks and months have shown just how important personal meetings and exchanges between people are. Thankfully, in times of social distancing, digital tools make it possible to keep up this dialogue. Now, it is of even greater importance to encourage people to connect, to provide space for exchange, and to highlight committed actors and initiatives as well as effective technologies and solution models in the industry. This is why the Berlin Music Commission (BMC) believes it is imperative that the listen to berlin: Awards, Most Wanted: Music and MW:M Live take place next week.

Due to the rapid developments concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and the decisions of the German government on October 28th, we have decided to hold all Most Wanted: Music 2020 event formats without a physically present audience. Participation in the listen to berlin: Awards, the MW:M Convention and MW:M Live as well as the MW:M Satellite events is now only possible online.

To access the complete programme including the video live streams of all conference sessions, a ticket for the entire conference is required. The free tickets for MW:M Satellites and MW:M Live only allow online access to the live streams of MW:M Satellites and MW:M Live on Thursday, November 5th.

All ticket types grant full access to the delegate’s database and the associated networking opportunities as well as the virtual exhibition booths of our partners and sponsors. This access is granted from the moment of registration, and remains valid even after the conference ends. All ticket holders will receive their access data to the virtual conference platform upon registering with Eventbrite.

In addition, the highlights of MW:M20 will also be broadcast live, freely accessible on all online channels of BMC and Most Wanted: Music, i.e. websites and social media. No ticket is required to view these.

All tickets issued so far will accordingly retain their validity for online participation in the event.

The physical production will be carried out in strict compliance with all applicable safety and hygiene measures, in order to ensure the safety of our artists, speakers and employees.

See you online next week at MW:M20!

Most Wanted: Music 2020 findet virtuell statt
