MW:M Live – Full Lineup

MW:M Live is the music showcase of Most Wanted: Music, Berlin’s music business conference, and 2023 sees the fifth edition of the event take place across the Kesselhaus, Maschinenhaus, Frannz Club, and Panda venues. And with today’s initial artist announcement, it’s clear that this year’s programme shaping up to be the best in the history of MW:M Live!

This year, we turn a special spotlight on the musical talent emerging from Baden-Württemberg, with a group of artists ready to share music as beautiful as their famously attractive Land. MW:M Live 2023 warmly welcomes: bilingual singer-songwriter alvva, who performs her dreamy synthpop filled with nostalgia and  joie de vivre; JISKA, who explores her lifelong musical curiosity through pop and soul to create songs that are both fresh and familiar; and also punk band Horizontaler Gentransfer, formed by six female artists with immigrant backgrounds, and who blend music with experimental text and visual elements.

From on our doorstep in Berlin, you’ll be able to enjoy Otis Mensah’s deft mixture of poetry and experimental music that explores themes of race, identity, gender and the body; as well as the hip-hop/RnB of multidisciplinary Berliner RAYNE, who helped organise the first hip-hop concert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; and – presented by Listen to Berlin – Brazilian-Berliner Danilo Timm, whose warm, colourful queer pop blends Brazilian grooves, synth-pop beats, and neo-soul riffs.

POP-Office Bremen is presenting talented singer-songwriter-producer Goldy.mp3, who has worked on a number of her own tracks as well as with other artists, including with FutureBae and Tropical on tracks like “Immer Sommer,” which is currently racking up millions of streams.

From outside of Germany, we’re happy to announce three exciting, pioneering acts. The thrilling music of UK band ĠENN wraps searing post-punk missives inside psychedelic textures; while from Hungary, presented by HOTS (Hungarian Oncoming Tunes), Vietnamese-Hungarian artist Hien will mesh ethereal vocals with lush textures and minimal beats; and from Bologna in Italy, presented by Emila-Romagna Music Commission and ATER Fondazione, come Leatherette – a band that both embrace and reject rock music and its aesthetics with music that encompasses punk outbursts, jazzy atmospheres and hints of no wave.

From the Czech Republic SoundCzech presents you the prolific Prague-based artist Lazer Viking best known for his unapologetically honest storytelling style. Kreatives Sachsen introduces Acid.Milk&Honey who convinces with his unique mixture of pop, punk, electro and rave. And Listen to Berlin brings Philipp Johann Thimm on stage, best known for his ongoing collaboration with Sascha Ring under the Apparat banner for which they both were nominated for a Grammy in 2019.

Also confirmed: singer-songwriter, producer, and certified guitar prodigy Tal Arditi who has been playing on stages since age 13; Costa Rica pianist and singer-songwriter Sofi Paez; Songwriter Grimson, who has so far achieved more than one million views with his music on TikTok; and Mirrors For Princes with their music ranging from dance punk anthems and high-octane power pop to moody trip-hop.

We are also delighted to present the two young Berlin acts WR51 and Lio J.
