MOST WANTED: MUSIC 2021 – CHANGES IN BERLIN
MW:M21 #change: October 26-28th on-site at Kulturbrauerei Berlin and online on WWW
Most Wanted: Music returns on 26-28 October – and after a challenging 18 months, the Most Wanted: Music music business conference returns with its sights set firmly on #change. The conference is a hybrid online-offline event: finally, you can attend in person again and rub shoulders with real people – or join in remotely via our interactive digital conference platform. MW:M21 opens with the now-traditional festivities of the listen to berlin: Awards on Tuesday 26th before the main conference starts on Wednesday 27th, followed by our decentralised MW:M Satellites partner events – scattered all over Berlin – on Thursday 28th.
Super Early Birds Online-Tickets on sale
Our Super Early Bird online tickets are on sale from now until 30th June – and they’re only 15€! For those who can’t wait to attend in person, our on-site tickets will go on sale as soon as we know the exact number of people we can have in our venue in October.

New Venue: Berlin’s historic Kulturbrauerei
And that venue is a homecoming of sorts: MW:M21 takes place in Berlin’s historic cultural centre Kulturbrauerei – the place where the Berlin Music Commission formed, the home of the listen to berlin: Awards for many years, and the site of the first ever MW:M in 2014.
How to ride this wave of #change?
The music industry is a very different beast to the one of early 2020 – and while change may have been forced upon us all, a fairer, more exciting industry awaits: one filled with more opportunities, where individuals call the shots, and art earns the money it deserves.
The question is how to ride this wave of change? MW:M21 aims for its attendees to leave with the clarity needed to navigate this newly multifaceted industry. The conference is designed to help everyone understand the new possibilities in today’s music landscape, which changes should be made to leverage them – and how to develop those changes into a sustainable, creative, and satisfying career.
Olaf Kretschmar, CEO of the Berlin Music Commission (BMC), defines the objective of MW:M21 as follows:
“We have to drive change in the industry if we want to remain successful in the long term, and rarely have we had to deal with so many transforming areas at the same time. There is no blueprint for all these challenges, no clearly prescribed path to the future. In order to arrive at sustainable and resilient solutions, our only option is to negotiate new models together. To do this, we need constellations that include diverse perspectives. Socio-political challenges have now become part of our everyday business – with Most Wanted: Music, we provide a diverse platform for debate, know-how and new encounters to jointly arrive at new solutions for the music industry.”
MW:M 21 first speakers confirmed
MW:M21 is thrilled to announce its first wave of speakers, all of whom will be delivering unmissable talks on the nature of innovation, music, society and progress. Michela Magas is innovation advisor to the European Commission and was named European Woman Innovator of the Year in 2017. At MW:M21, Michela will discuss the essential roles of music and creativity at the centre of innovation in our industry. We’re also excited to announce that pioneering record producer and DJ Juan Atkins, described by Mixmag as “the original pioneer of Detroit techno”, will be speaking about our transition from an industrial to a technological society – in relationship to the universe itself. Joining them will be Amazon Music’s Head of Germany, Michael Hoeweler. He’ll be leaning on his long and multifaceted experience in working for Amazon in various roles – including industry and label relations – to explore the vital issue of diversity in Audio Streaming.
Music, fashion and technology have worked together for decades – but how about a performance that unifies all three? Giorgia Petri, Paul Biessmann and Erika Körner – who collectively started the research project Sound Folds – created advanced clothing that mediates a dialogue between body movement, technology, and music via sensors built into the fabric. At MW:M21, you’ll see musicians performing whilst wearing these clothes to create dazzling sound, delivering a unique music-fashion-tech experience. Don’t miss it!
