The listen to berlin: Awards 2020 will put the music and culture scene back in its long-awaited limelight. Let’s honor an industry that has shown great creativity and courage in facing the global crisis! This year, we will give a special award to influential personalities who have acted strongly and visionary in the coronavirus pandemic (Wirtschaftspreis 2020). So on November 3, we will present the fifth listen to berlin: Awards to creative people and outstanding initiatives based on their efforts for Berlin’s music and cultural scene. The event will broadcast live and take place in front of a small and selected audience in Berlin. Therefore, the listen to berlin: Awards will mark the beginning of the Most Wanted: Music 2020. The main conference will take place as a three-day hybrid conference both online and on-site in Berlin.

Let’s honor great creativity and courage in times of global crisis!

The Rolf Budde Prize (Rolf Budde Preis für Haltung in der Musikwirtschaft) is awarded to a person or initiative that has set a special example of moral courage and social commitment. By that, Berlin Music Commission once again shows how valuable civil courage within the creative sector and for the preservation of an open society is. The Berlin Music scene will also award the Prize for Promotion and Development (Preis für Förderung und Entwicklung der Berliner Musikszene). It will honor a person or project that has made a special mark on Berlin as a city of music. In addition, we will give an honorary-prize (Ehrenpreis) to an artist, entrepreneur, or initiative with special engagement for Berlin as a music location. And there are even more categories up for nominations. We will award outstanding commitment to more sustainability and a “greener” Berlin music landscape (Preis für Nachhaltigkeit), remarkable journalistic, or publicity work (Preis für Musikjournalismus), and the most creative music video (Kreativstes Musikvideo).
